We had a visit from Jamie from Water Safety Ireland today to talk to us about how to stay safe around water. We learned about water safety at home, to Stay Away From Edges at lakes and rivers, the importance of wearing a lifejacket, how to use a ring bouy and advice for staying safe when swimming. Thank you very much Jamie – we really enjoyed your visit and learned lots of tips to keep ourselves and others safe around water!

The Junior Room had a brilliant day at The Hidden Village, Castleblaney with St Mogue’s N.S. as part of our PeacePlus programme.
The children got to become firefighters, construction workers, hairdressers, beauticians, farmers, cafe workers and lots more. There were pamper sessions in the beauty parlour, fires to be extinguished, vehicles to be driven on the farm and building work in the construction corner. What a day to remember!

The Junior Room had a very special delivery this week – the masks they made last month at Leitrim School of Art arrived and they were well worth the wait! Look at all our fabulous creations!

We were invited to take part in an art competition as part of the Killeshandra St Patrick’s Day Parade and are delighted to have two winners! Well done to everyone who took part, and a special congratulations to our prize winners!

To mark St Patrick’s Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge, we had a Céilà in the Hall today. It was a celebration of poetry, music and dance – we have so many talented performers in our midst! We had all been learning CailÃn na Gaillimhe and started off with a whole school performance.

We had a whole host of wonderful musical performances – we had tunes on guitar, violin, bango, piano and tin whistle!

We also had some fantastic Irish dancers who showed off their skills!

There were some poems, recitations, songs and prayers – well done everyone!

We finished off our céilà with An Damhsa Mór where everyone had the chance to join in!

Maith sibh go léir – bhain gach duine an-taitneamh as an gcéilÃ!
We ran a competition in school this week as part of our Scholastic Book Fair. The Junior Room had to design a book mark while the Middle and Senior Rooms wrote a letter to an author or a character from a book. Mrs Comiskey had the very difficult job of judging all the entries, but she managed to choose a winner from each room.
They were able to pick a book from the Book Fair as their prize. Well done everyone, and a special congratulations to our winners!

The Scholastic Book Fair arrived in school today! We had the chance to look at some of the lovely books and stationery and think about what we might like to buy during the week!

Today was our last Drumming workshop with Alan Laird from the Ulster Scots Agency. We have really enjoyed learning how to play the snare drum over the last few months, and today we had the opportunity to try out our skills on a real drum! Alan also showed us how well he can play – thank you Alan!
