We were joined today by Mícheál Watters – Mícheál came to do a Karate taster session with us during Active School Week last year and we enjoyed it so much, we invited him back! Each class had a session with Mícheál, and we are already looking forward to the next one! Thank you so much Mícheál!
ASPIRE PEACEPLUS with St. Mogue’s N.S., Currin
On Tuesday 21st January, we had our first event as part of the ASPIRE PEACEPLUS programme that we will be taking part in over the next few years. We were invited to St. Mogue’s N.S., Currin for a meet and greet with their pupils.
We spent a few minutes having a look around the school and meeting the pupils in their classrooms before everyone met together in their school hall. Mr Conefrey, the principal of St Mogue’s, welcomed us to their school, then were treated to a show by ‘Joe the Magician’ – it was amazing!
After break, the Infants enjoyed some physical activity, while 1st-6th Classes took part in a very competitive Kahoot! quiz.
At break and lunchtime, we enjoyed getting to know some of the pupils from St Mogue’s as we ate our lunches and played together outside.
After lunch, we all met together again for an assembly – we enjoyed some delicious treats, the winners of the quiz were announced and some of us won some fantastic spot prizes! Thank you to everyone in St. Mogue’s N.S. for making us so welcome – we are really looking forward to having you visit us here in Killeshandra next month!
Pyjama Day
As a special end of term treat, the Parents’ Association organised a fundraiser today – we could come to school in our pyjamas! There were lots of fluffy socks, Christmas pyjamas and blankets to be seen this morning! We played some Christmas games and quizes, watched Christmas movies, enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and biscuits and even had time for a few more Christmas songs before we went home. It was a lovely way to end a very busy term!
Happy Christmas everyone!
Christmas Party
We had our Christmas Party yesterday – it was a great day of fun and games, treats and a special visit from Santa!
We went down to the hall first thing, and played lots of games in our groups.
After lunch, we went back to the hall to meet a very special visitor!
Everyone recieved a beautiful gift from Santa, and we gave Santa a present too – the carrots that we grew in our school garden to bring home to Rudolph! Before Santa left, we sang a few songs for him.
To finish off the afternoon, we went back up to school for some Christmas Karaoke – it was a great day!
Junior Entrepreneur Programme
5th and 6th Class have been extremely busy over the last few weeks coming up with ideas for the Junior Entrepreneur Programme.
Today was the day for each of the four groups to meet with the Dragons. Thank you to Gerry Sheridan from Ice Cream Treats, Mrs Comiskey and Ms Gregg who sat on the panel. The groups were BOOM!, Feathered Friends, ALG Holders and Sixty-Sixty.

The Dragons were very impressed with the presentations from each of the groups, and after much deliberation, they decided that ALG Holders would be the project that all children would work on from this point forward.
Thank you to the Dragons, and well done to all the children for their hard work. A special thank you to Gerry for sharing his experience of running a very successful business, and for bringing some delicious ice cream for us all!
Visit to Fika 33
As a ‘Thank you’ to the children for all their hard work in making crafts to sell at the Killeshandra Christmas Market, we went to Fika 33 today for a special treat. Everyone enjoyed a hot chocolate and a cookie – thank you to the staff in Fika for looking after us so well.

Today the Junior Room were invited across the road to the FOCUS Centre for a special visit to their Christmas Winter Wonderland. There was lots of fun, laughter, games and some delicious treats! Everyone also recieved a beautiful gift to bring home with them. Thank you so much to everyone in the FOCUS Centre for inviting us and looking after us so well!

Christmas Tree
It is tradition in Killeshandra N.S. for 6th Class to put up and decorate our Christmas tree and this year was no different! Thank you 6th Class, our hallway is looking very festive!
Christmas Fair
We had a very successful afternoon at the Christmas Market in Killeshandra yesterday! The Community Hall was filled with all sorts of wonderful items for sale, as well as live music and entertainment. Some of the boys and girls in 4th, 5th and 6th Classes took shifts on our stall – thank you for working so well and selling our lovely Christmas crafts. Thank you also to everyone who supported us and bought a Christmas decoration – we completely sold out of snowmen, and only had a few trees left at the end of the afternoon. Well done everyone!
