Postal Bible School Prizes

Instead of the usual Postal Bible School Prizegiving evening, this year we were able to choose our prize and it was delivered to us in school. We choose beautiful notebooks, pen sets and bottles – thank you so much to everyone at Postal Bible School for the lovely prizes and for marking our lessons all year.

Active School Week – Friday

Today was the last day of Active School Week 2021 – we have been so fortunate with the weather all week and have had great fun with lots of different activities each day.

For our last Wake Up, Shake Up this morning, we rolled the dice to see which exercises and balances we would do before having a dance to Cotton Eye Joe chosen by the Senior Room.

For our activities today, we look part in some team challenges where we had to use our brains as well as our bodies! We had to stack the cups, get our team across the pitch using only a few mats, turn a sheet over with the whole team standing on it and keep the ball in the gutter!

We were delighted to get lovely new skipping ropes to play with at break and lunch time today – our skipping skills have improved so much this week!

We have also been running our Mile a Day each day this week – we have now completed 3 weeks of the Cavan Daily Mile challenge and are getting fitter every week.

We have had a fantastic Active School Week 2021 – well done everyone!

Active School Week – Thursday

Today was skipping day! We loved having Mark from SKIPnROPE with us today – we all took part in a skipping workshop where we learned lots of skills and tricks!

Mark also set us some challenges to try for our active homework tonight. Thank you so much Mark, we had a great day!

Challenge for JI, SI and 1st Class
Challenge for 2nd and 3rd Class
Challenge for 4th, 5th and 6th Class

We enjoyed showing off our new tricks at break and lunch time today as well!

Active School Week – Wednesday

For our Wake Up, Shake Up this morning, we added in some balances to our exercises and the Middle Room chose Baby Shark for our dance today!

Our activities today involved a lot of running! We did lots of different relay races and obstacle courses.

We are really looking forward to our skipping workshops tomorrow – all the practice we are doing at home and at break and lunchtime has improved our skipping so much already!

Sasha has set us a challenge to try at home this evening with our bicycles. You might like to try the wall sit as well – some of the Middle Room managed 10 minutes at lunchtime today – well done!

Active School Week – Tuesday

The Junior Room choose a song for us to dance to during our Wake Up, Shake Up this morning – there were some great moves to Hit the Diff!

Out activites today were Soccer and Basketball – each room enjoyed playing some matches.

John from Killeshandra Leaguers set us a challenge to try for our Active Homework this evening, and we have also been practising our skipping in preparation for our workshops on Thursday.

Active School Week – Monday

We had a fantastic start to Active School Week today!

The sun was shining this morning as we raised our Active School Flag. Well done to everyone for all their hard work over the last few years – we are delighted to be able to fly our 2nd Active School Flag at the school!

We celebrated with a dance after our Wake Up, Shake Up!

The sun continued to shine on us as we enjoyed playing tennis and running our mile.

One of our favourite parts of Active School Week is active homework – you might like to try the Shoe Challenge set by Ms Graham!

Application Packs

Application Packs are now available for September 2021. Please contact the school by phone or email if you require an Application Pack. Completed Application forms should be returned to the school by 31st March 2021.

Active School Flag

We received some very exciting news today – we have been awarded our Active School Flag!

We have been working over the last couple of years to renew our Active School Flag and the application form was sent in last week. We heard today that our application has been approved and we will be sent our new flag as soon as school opens again.

The Active School Flag screening committee were very impressed with all our work – they particularly loved hearing about our Run around Ireland challenge, our Dance Days on the yard, how we have covered all the different strands of the PE curriculum so well and how we all stay active at home when we are not able to be in school together.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone for helping us achieve our Active School Flag – we can’t wait to raise it when we get back to school!
