Today is Pancake Tuesday and we enjoyed some yummy pancakes at break time – with a choice of toppings! They were delicious!
Plant a Tree
Our school is participating in an initiative being rolled out to create awareness about the dangers of pesticides to our local water sources. We had a visit from Sinéad Higgins from National Federation of Group Water Schemes and Emer Colwell, Irish Water last week.
They provided each family with a native Irish tree to plant in their home garden, together with an information pack containing a 4 page gardening booklet, certificate and information on how to plant the tree.
We hope you enjoy planting your birch trees at home!

GAA Coaching
John Cosgrove from Killeshandra Leaguers came into school to give the Junior Classroom a taste of what it would be like to train with the club. The children had great fun, and maybe there are a few future Leaguers in our midst! Thank you John for coming in to coach us.
At the Opticians in the Junior Room
The Junior Room have been at the Opticians in Aistear this month.
We listened to stories, got our eyes tested, made glasses and built a range of equipment to check our eyesight – lots of fun and learning!
Sports Coaching with Sasha
We all really enjoyed our first coaching session with Sasha – money raised by the parents through Christmas quiz sheets is being used to pay for this coaching.
The Junior Room had great fun practising their throwing and catching skills.
The Middle Room got kitted out in their shin guards and gum shields for their first hockey lesson, learning the skills of passing and dribbling the ball.
They also had great fun playing a few games!
The Senior Room had their first Tri-Heroes session – the wind and rain didn’t put them off as they set off on their bikes!
Thank you Sasha – we are looking forward to next week!
New equipment for the yard
We have some new equipment to play with at break and lunch time on the yard, bought with money raised by the Parents’ Association Christmas Quiz Sheets.
Christmas fun!
We have had great fun in school over the last few days with lots of Christmas activities.
Each classroom enjoyed hot chocolate and watched a movie last Friday
We have made lots of lovely Christmas Art.

The Junior Room were very busy making and wrapping presents and writing lists to help Santa during Aistear.
Tuesday was our Christmas Party – everyone had a great time playing lots of games inside and outside all day!
We also had a very special visitor to the school – Santa checked his book and everyone is on his nice list this year!
Happy Christmas everyone!
It’s a Party!
We were delighted to be able to perform our Nativity play It’s a Party! in Killeshandra Parish Church on Tuesday 14th December. A huge ‘well done’ to everyone for your amazing performances!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
We are getting into the Christmas spirit in school this week! We were delighted when the amazing Christmas cards we designed arrived today – we will have to get writing!
6th Class also put up our Christmas tree this afternoon – things are starting to look very festive in Killeshandra!
