This term, the Junior and Middle Rooms have been completing SESE projects on the topic of Life Cycles.
The Junior Room completed a project on Hatching Chicks. We put hen eggs in an incubator and waited patiently for 21 days. We had to keep an eye on temperature and add water to keep the humidity right!

On day 20, our first chick hatched! On the following days, we had 7 more chicks, so we had 8 chicks in total – Homer, Derek, Yellow Rose, Stephen, Dark Vader, Daffodil, Bart and Young-young.

We also learned about the life cycle of the hen, the parts of an egg and how to incubate an egg. We also experimented with whisking an egg white.

The Middle Room completed a project Butterflies. We watched our 5 caterpillars grow and change into chrysalides, then finally emerge as butterflies! We kept a observation record, and also learned about the life cycles of other animals and plants.

We released our butterflies on a lovely sunny day – hopefully they have laid their eggs and the life cycle will continue!

Both classrooms worked very hard on these projects, and we got together to share our wonderful work. Well done everyone!
