As part of our ASPIRE PeacePlus programme, the Junior Room met the children in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class from St Mogue’s N.S. at Florence Court in Co. Fermanagh today. We enjoyed a few minutes in the playground as we waited for the St Mogue’s bus to arrive.
The programme we were taking part in today was called A Busy Day at Florence Court, and it certainly lived up to its name! We had to help the servants to get ready for the christening of Lady Ann in 1875, and there was lots to be done! After a quick snack, we got dressed up and ready for work.
Then we headed into the big house where we had dusting, polishing, washing, ironing, cooking and lots of other jobs to do. Everyone worked very hard, and the servants were very impressed with us – they offered everyone a job to come back and help again!
After all our hard work, we enjoyed playing a few games in the courtyard.
Then it was time to have our fingernails inspected before we headed in to the classroom! Mrs McConkey, the schoolmistress, was very strict, but everyone was well behaved and did their very best writing!
We all had a great day at Florence Court, and are looking forward to meeting our friends from St Mogue’s N.S. again next week!
