To celebrate Science Week from 8th – 15th November 2020, each classroom had fun investigating different areas of Science.
The Junior Room carried out an experiment to see if different materials were waterproof. We had to predict first, then we recorded our results.
We also did a magic milk experiment. We learned that milk has fat in it, and when we dipped a cotton bud with washing up liquid on it, it broke the fat up. The food colouring meant that we could see this happening.
The Middle Room did some colour experiments. We watched a video from Dr How’s Science Wows then tried her investigation into capillary action – we made a rainbow!
We observed how colours mix – we mixed some food colouring in vinegar and added it to bicarbonate of soda to make fizzy colours, and watched what happened when we added water to different coloured fruity sweets.
We also added food colouring to water and placed a flower in each different colour. After 1 day, the flowers had started to change colour!
In the Senior Room, we carried out experiments based on gravity, making bubbles with a special ingredient and bridge building!
