Junior Room trip to Ballinamore

The Junior Room went to Ballinamore with St Mogue’s N.S. as part of our PeacePlus programme. We visited Ballinamore Library where GrĂ¡inne read several books to us, all of which had reference to the library or books. We then had a snack together and some time to talk to our friends.

We walked up to the Leitrim School of Art where we had a lovely clay session with Denise. We decorated masks and got to paint them. We really enjoyed this and can’t wait for Denise to deliver these to us once they have been baked in the oven!

We also got some time to run around and play with our friends outside. It was a really great day!

Valentine’s Day Cards at the FOCUS Centre

We were delighted to be invited across to the FOCUS Centre today. We went to make Valentine’s Day cards for the senior citizens in the local community. Each of us made a card for an older person who attends the day centre here in Killeshandra. We hope they enjoy our Valentine’s greetings!

MĂ³rshiĂºl FhĂ©ile BhrĂde

Killeshandra Tradfest invited us to take part in the MĂ³rshiĂºl FhĂ©ile BhrĂde to celebrate St Brigid’s Day on 1st February. It was a chance to re-wear the wonderful straw hats we made with Edwina as part of our Creative Schools project a couple of years ago! There was a parade through the town, followed by some Sean NĂ³s dancing in the hall. Thank you to Killeshandra Tradfest for inviting us to take part!

Music Lessons

We were very grateful to recieve some money from the Killeshandra Youth Band last Autumn and we are using this funding to provide the pupils with guitar lessons which will run right up to the end of this school year. We purchased 6 guitars for the school and these are being put to great use already! The Junior Room are also doing lots of fun musical activities each week with our music teacher Emily. We are really enjoying learning a new skill and look forward to the opportunity to show off our talents in the future!

ISPCC workshops

Today in school, each classroom took part an ISPCC Time for Mindfulness workshop. We learned breathing techniques and other ways of helping us to calm our minds and bodies, and how the ISPCC is always there if we need someone to speak to.

Happy Christmas!

To celebrate reaching the end of a very busy term, everyone came to school this morning in their pyjamas! Simon and Jayne joined us for a special Christmas assembly, then we had some hot chocolate and cookies and enjoyed watching Christmas movies and playing games.

Have a wonderful Christmas break, and we will see everyone back in school again in 2026!

Theatre and Bowling

The Junior Room had a special Christmas treat yesterday – a trip to Enniskillen to the Ardhowen Theatre followed by bowling in Ninth Avenue. The Junior Room from St Mogue’s N.S. also went as part of our PeacePlus partnership.

The show was called Little Bo Peep’s Christmas Mix Up and it was great fun!

After the show, we headed to Ninth Avenue for some bowling!

We had a great day!

Christmas Party

Today was our Christmas Party! We started in the hall this morning with a game of last over the mat before we were joined by Rev Jean Mackarel. Rev Jean had a few great games (and lots of prizes!) for us – thank you so much Rev Jean for joining us at our Christmas party. After break, we were back in the hall for more games in our teams.

After lunch, we had some treats in the hall, and were joined by parents, friends and pre-schoolers. Then it was time for a very special visitor – Santa himself! Santa had a gift for each one of us – thank you very much, Santa!

Before he left, Santa drew the winners of our Christmas quiz sheets. We also sang a couple of songs for Santa before he headed on his way to get ready for Christmas!

To finish off a great day, everyone left in school enjoyed a Christmas Kahoot quiz!

A Miracle in Town

We performed our Nativity Play, A Miracle in Town, on Monday evening. Killeshandra Church was full as we told the story of the first Christmas through words and songs. Thank you to everyone who came to support us, and a huge well done to all the stars of the show – narrators, Mary, Joseph, angels, villagers, innkeepers, animals, shepherds, wise men and kings – you were all fantastic!

Christmas Assembly with Colin Tinsley

It was great to welcome Colin Tinsley back to school this morning for a special Christmas Assembly. Colin used songs, stories and Bible verses to retell the story of the first Christmas. Colin also gave each of us a lovely Christmas colouring book and a calendar as a Christmas gift – thank you very much, Colin!
