Brendan Allard from Leave No Trace Ireland joined us in school today for the first of two workshops. The Middle and Senior Rooms enjoyed lots of practical activities – we made an outline map of Ireland and thought about our favourite places, we learned how long it takes for rubbish to break down (did you know a crisp packet takes 80 years to decompose?) and we played a guessing game with plants and animals found in Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brendan also taught us the rules of Leave No Trace, and how we can be considerate to others as we enjoy our local outdoor areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we thought about one of our favourite places in our local area, Killykeen Forest Park. Brendan left us with a project to complete before his next visit – we have to become tour guides and make a poster to promote Killykeen.
